Skier performs trick on the halfpipe at Beaver Creek in winter

5 Tips for Enjoying Beaver Creek Terrain Parks from Top to Bottom

Beaver Creek terrain parkBeaver Creek is a resort like no other. With world class snow and the ability to carve new trails daily, most people are content to spend all day heading down the mountain.

But you’re not like other people. You want to feel the sensation of air beneath your board. You need to jib or play in a half pipe before you can call it a day.

If freestyle is the way you roll, then get ready to have the experience of a lifetime at one of Beaver Creek’s three terrain parks.

Get warmed up at Park 101

This beginner terrain park is great for people who are just learning the basics of freestyle snowboarding or freeskiing, or for showing your kids the incomparable thrill of shredding the park.

The jumps will help you become accustomed to the addictive feeling of catching air. It’s also a great place for a pro to get warmed up for what’s in store down the mountain.

For more information on Park 101 clinics please contact ski school at (970) 754-5464

Beaver Creek Ski School also offers Parkology, an innovative park and pipe lesson program featuring progressive learning terrain and weekly instruction. Additionally, a series of learning competitions for Parkology students are scheduled throughout the winter to help aspiring jibbers hone their skills, learn park etiquette and become more comfortable in a competitive setting.

Jib some rails and boxes at the Zoom Room

Get familiar with the sound that your board makes when it meets rails, log-slides and boxes.

Grab some chow at the Spruce Saddle Lodge

After playing all morning, you’ve no doubt worked up an appetite. In between the top of the Centennial Express Lift and the bottom of the Cinch Express Lift, grab some grub at the Spruce Saddle Lodge.

It’s the perfect middle point between the introductory terrain parks and the extreme Rodeo you’re about to enter. The Spruce Saddle Lodge specializes in eclectic casual cuisine that will fill you up and give you the energy you need to tackle afternoon terrain.

Challenge your downhill skills on a double black

Get your adrenaline pumping before you even hit the terrain park and choose a path that takes a more extreme route to The Rodeo. Centennial and Stickline will give you some black diamond thrills, and if you’re feeling really daring, try your skills out at the Birds of Prey championship course.

Once your blood is pumping and your adrenaline is flowing, then you’re ready for Beaver Creek’s advanced terrain park.

Expect the unexpected at The Rodeo

With rails, jibs, boxes, log-slides and 40- to 60-foot jumps, this park is the real deal. The experts that helped create The Rodeo are passionate about giving riders the experience of a lifetime. Rails appear after jumps and boxes pop up in unexpected areas.

Keep on your toes and get ready for the ride of your life!

After you’ve made it through The Rodeo once, there’s only one thing you can do: go back and ride it all again!
