Upon opening December 15, 1980, Beaver Creek Resort was the most environmentally sensitive ski resort ever built in North America. The resort's continued efforts have led to environmental "awareness" among resort employees, guests, residents and community members.
Beaver Creek Resort has a long-term commitment to educate each and every guest, community member and employee in his or her responsibilities to provide an active role in environmental stewardship.
As they planned the Resort and surrounding village, the resort’s founders took into account how to protect the wildlife and even improve the habitat.
Before the first ski run was ever envisioned, Beaver Creek’s founders and proponents had already laid the groundwork for interminable fish and wildlife habitat protection, travel management, and water and air quality guidelines. These guidelines, still in place today, resulted in the beginning of a continually improving environmental effort.
Beaver Creek is committed to Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.
Simply put, our product is the great outdoors and as such, we have a special obligation to protect the environment in which we live and work.
During the resort planning process, and prior to Beaver Creek’s opening day in December 1980, resort officials and environmental planners were sensitive to vehicle traffic in and out of Beaver Creek.
