Opening Weekend Events and Activities:
This season Beaver Creek Resort kicks off opening weekend with our most special of traditions. On Wednesday, November 25th, we start the day with complimentary hot cocoa and our first guests of the season have the opportunity to win tons of prizes at the base of Centennial Express Lift!
Skiers and riders will enjoy more than 720 acres of terrain – the most terrain offered on opening day since 2002.
Season to date, the resort has already received more than 50 inches of natural snowfall and has benefited from ideal snowmaking conditions in the lead up to opening day.
Opening day invites guests to access all levels of terrain beginning at 9 a.m. via:
Buckaroo Gondola (Lift #1)
Rose Bowl Express (Lift #4)
Centennial Express (Lift #6)
Cinch Express (Lift #8)
Strawberry Park Express (Lift #12)
Bachelor Gulch Express (Lift #16)
A variety of beginner surface lifts will also be available, including GoldBahn, SilverBahn, KerchBahn, BibberBahn, RitzBahn, and Magic Carpet.
Rose Bowl Express will include access to advanced terrain favorites such as Ripsaw, Cataract, and sections of Spider; popular beginner and intermediate trails in Bachelor Gulch will include Sawbuck, Gunder’s and Cabin Fever, as well as others.
That afternoon we embark on the tradition of finding the World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie
. Then on the Friday after Thanksgiving, we host our longest running tradition of all…the Beaver Creek Tree Lighting Ceremony
As we enter our 35th year of the tree lighting tradition, we will be taking it up a notch or two with music, performances, fireworks and the lighting of our very special Beaver Creek Colorado blue spruce.
World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition November 25, 2015
Celebrate opening day at Beaver Creek and round out the day before Thanksgiving by munching on warm chocolate chip cookies. The annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition takes place opening day of the 2015-2016 winter season, where the top five recipes will be selected to compete for bragging rights as the official cookie recipe of Beaver Creek.
Five finalists chosen from a number of fall entries bake and serve 1,000 cookies each on November 25th. Hungry skiers and riders vote, and the top cookie recipe is chosen and designated as the 2016 Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe of Beaver Creek.
35th Annual Tree Lighting November 27, 2015
The 35th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony signifies the kickoff of another great ski season and the beginning of the holiday season at Beaver Creek. Featuring a holiday poetry contest, ice skating show, performances from Denver-based Colorado Ambassadors of Gospel and musical act still to be determined; the Tree Lighting Ceremony is always a Beaver Creek favorite. Santa himself will drop in for a visit and the evening closes with a spectacular fireworks display over the Village.
Santa’s Workshop (Located in Ford Hall at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek)
Santa’s Workshop is a “one stop holiday shop” for kids and families – kids of all ages will delight in making Christmas gifts for the whole family, decorating holiday cookies and taking photos with Santa! Santa’s elves will be on hand to help with crafting and photos – parents please bring your cameras! Food and beverage will be available for purchase from the Powder 8 Kitchen & Tap.
