The Talons is Beaver Creek?s most advanced terrain. It encompasses terrain from the Birds of Prey, Grouse Mountain and sections of Larkspur Bowl. The Talons hosts some of the most demanding and difficult terrain in all of Colorado.
The name comes from the layout of the runs. Looking at the Beaver Creek trail map, you?ll find the chair lifts; Birds of Prey Express, Grouse Mountain Express and Larkspur Lift look very similar to a bird?s talons, the three claws of a bird. Beaver Creek decided this area should be named The Talons because it represents its most difficult and challenging terrain, and because The Talons concept continues the Birds of Prey theme celebrated throughout Beaver Creek for so many years.
The Talons Challenge is offered exclusively through Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School and requires students to complete a certain amount of terrain within The Talons during their lesson. Students who want to be recognized for their skiing or riding ability can incorporate The Talons Challenge into any group or private lesson.
To participate, ask your Beaver Creek Ski or Snowboard Instructor, or call the Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School at (970) 845-5300. Beaver Creek requires participants to be at least a level 5 to participate in The Talons Challenge; but all ages are welcome.
