Pay What You Want Night

Doubt, a brilliant and powerful Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama, raises poignant questions concerning moral uncertainty and issues of authority. This provocative production written by John Patrick Shanley (Academy Award-winner for “Moonstruck”), leaves audience members deep in discussion long after the curtain has fallen.

Set against the backdrop of a Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues - even if she's uncertain of the truth?

About Montana Repertory Theatre
Now one of the oldest and most respected touring companies in the country, Montana Repertory Theatre has presented more than 450 performances in 350 communities.

PAY WHAT YOU WANT NIGHT

New for the 11-12 Winter Season, the VPAC will be hosting four Pay What You Want Nights. ABOUT LEFTOVER SALMON:
"One of the things that sets them apart is their versatility…to be able to play electric music [with] fiddle and mandolin. It's not surprising they found such a large audience. I love all their influences – the newgrass, the rock, the reggae. It really caught my attention." - Sam Bush

With a legion of diehard fans and a reputation as one of the most exciting concert experiences to ever hit the road, Leftover Salmon, fuses an improvisational fervor with a dizzying combination of bluegrass, Cajun and funk.

The origins of Leftover Salmon are as intriguing as their name. The group was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1989, as the result of a merger between Vince Herman (from Cajun/Calypso/jugband The Salmonheads) and Drew Emmitt and Mark Vann (of progressive bluegrass Left Hand String Band).

Cost: $45

TICKETS: Tickets may be purchased online at www.vilarpac.org or by calling the Vilar Center Box Office at 1-888-920-ARTS (2787).
<startdate>3/8/2012 12:12:00 PM</startdate><enddate>3/8/2012 12:09:00 PM</enddate><eventtime>7:30PM</eventtime>

St. Petersburg State Orchestra
<briefdesc />
<useDefaults>False</useDefaults><repeat>False</repeat>
Location: Beaver Creek
March 09, 2012 - March 09, 2012

ABOUT CHRIS ISAAK:
Throughout his impressive recording career -- from his stunning 1985 debut to this latest album Mr. Lucky -- Chris Isaak has tunefully and artfully explored the good, the bad and the ugly of love, as well as other matters of profound human interest. He has done so with an abiding respect for popular music’s past, but at the same time with clear and vital passion for the here and now.

Like some of Isaak’s best known past compositions, such as his international breakthrough smash “Wicked Game,” “Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing” and “Somebody’s Crying,” the songs on Mr. Lucky have a deeply felt sense of the consequences of good love gone bad, and bad love gone good.

From the beginning, Isaak has earned his good luck the hard way -- by consistently delivering excellent work, both onstage and in the studio on a series of accomplished albums from Silvertone (1985), Chris Isaak (1986), Heart Shaped World (1989), San Francisco Days (1993), Forever Blue (1995), the largely acoustic Baja Sessions (1996), Speak of the Devil (1998), Always Got Tonight (2002), the seasonal-themed Christmas, the Best of Chris Isaak compilation (2006) and 2009’s Mr. Lucky.

“I’ve been together with most of the guys in the band for 25 years now and I still look forward to playing with them every night -- and even sharing the bus with them on the way to the next gig. Then to make things even better, when we play, wonderful people turn up to see us -- it’s like having a hometown wherever we go,” said Isaak.

In between recording albums and touring, Isaak has used his famously sly, self-deprecating wit and matinee idol looks to enjoy a whole second life onscreen. He has appeared in numerous films including: “Married To The Mob,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me,” Tom Hanks’ rock ‘n’ roll movie “That Thing You Do” and the Academy Award-winning “Silence Of The Lambs.”

TICKETS:
Tickets are $98/135 (based on seating) and are available online at www.vilarpac.org, by calling 888.920.ARTS (2787) or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek or Marketplace Box Office in Vail Village.
<startdate>3/13/2012 8:05:00 AM</startdate><enddate>3/13/2012 3:00:00 PM</enddate><eventtime>7:30pm</eventtime>

Teen Tubing @ Vail’s Adventure Ridge
<briefdesc>Teen Tubing @ Vail’s Adventure Ridge</briefdesc>
<useDefaults>False</useDefaults><repeat>True</repeat><repeatselecteddays>repeatselecteddays: Tuesday</repeatselecteddays>
March 13, 2012 - April 10, 2012

ABOUT "ARE YOU MY MOTHER?"
At long last, Baby Bird emerges from her shell and expects to be greeted by her mother’s song. But her mother is not there. Where is she? Why isn’t she home?

Not knowing that her mother has left the nest to gather food, Baby Bird decides to find her. While searching, Baby Bird meets an array of colorful characters - Cat, Dog and Hen - each of whom she greets with the simple plea: are you my mother? Unfortunately for Baby Bird, neither Cat nor Dog nor Hen turns out to be her mother.

Baby Bird, however, is persistent. She is determined to find her mother no matter what. Her courage is bolstered by the unlikely “family” of characters who are ready to lend a paw or a wing to help their friend.

Ragnar is the overnight running relay race that makes testing your limits a team sport. A team is made up of 6-12 individuals; each individual runs 3 legs. The legs of the race vary in difficulty and distance, from 3-8 miles, allowing elite and novice runners to run together.

Over 2 days and 1 night, teams run across 200 miles of the country’s most scenic terrain. Pair that with crazy costumes, inside jokes, a great finish line party and unforgettable stories.
