The Beaver Creek Candy Cabin gained fast fame among guests when it opened its doors during winter 2014-2015. Located at the top of Strawberry Park Express and Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express lifts, the Cabin’s vintage candy store design of yesteryear invites kids and kids-at-heart to explore myriad palate-pleasing sweets – and to discover artisan craft chocolates found nowhere but the Candy Cabin. Created locally by fifth-generation chocolatier, Michael Mootz, each dark or milk chocolate bar is presented in a custom Beaver Creek gold box; individual chocolate snowflakes, snowmen or ski boots also offer a smooth, sweet treat. Other popular selections include bulk candy sold by the pound and classic Pepsi products made with real cane sugar. 

Talons Restaurant
Recently named as one of Travel & Leisure’s “America’s Best Ski Resort Restaurants”, Talons Restaurant offers a European-inspired gourmet menu featuring favorites such as the Schinkenstrulle (Black Forest Ham, Swiss cheese, fried egg, tomato, garlic aioli and sourdough), Colorado Lamb Burger and tossed to order salads, Aged Dunkel-Cheddar and other homemade soups and more, enjoyed in an upscale cafeteria setting. The Brink, named after a part of the men’s Birds of Prey downhill course, is an indoor- outdoor bar area offering signature cocktails and other libations. The expansive outdoor deck offers a great spot to refuel with bison burgers, brats and more. Originally constructed in 1997 as Red Tail Camp, Talons serves as the press center for the annual Men’s Birds of Prey World Cup held each December.

Ski Season’s Opening Day Presents 13th Annual World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition
Set for Opening Day, Nov. 23, 2016, Beaver Creek hosts one of the most-anticipated traditions – the 13th Annual World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition – during which, five carefully-vetted finalists serve their signature recipes throughout the Beaver Creek Village. Tasting and judging begins at 2 p.m. in the Beaver Creek Village, during which 5,000 gourmet chocolate chip cookies will be served in one hour. Participation is complimentary and all guests are invited to taste and cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award. Chocolate chip cookies are Beaver Creek’s perennial tradition and in addition to the annual competition, the resort serves warm, freshly-baked, gourmet chocolate chip cookies daily at 3 p.m. – known as Cookie Time – during which time, chefs stroll throughout the Beaver Creek Village donning silver platters of the signature treats, offered to all guests and passersby.

Slated for Nov. 29 – Dec. 4, 2016, the world’s fastest men again descend on Beaver Creek for the annual Audi Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup Weekend. Surrounding the event will be EverBank America’s Winter Opening, bringing headliner concerts, cuisine, Birds of Prey Way in the Beaver Creek Village, street activities and more to represent winter’s grand opening in the Rockies. Hosting Downhill, Super-G and Giant Slalom competitions, Birds of Prey will set the stage for not only the World Championships, but the entire 2016-17 World Cup campaign. 2016 Birds of Prey champion Ted Ligety looks to claim his seventh consecutive Beaver Creek podium, while Austria’s Hannes Reichelt returns for another medal. Beaver Creek’s Terrain-Based Learning Gives Beginners an Edge
The Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School incorporates Terrain Based Learning to beginners. “The concept behind Beaver Creek’s terrain-based learning features is to provide a seamless, natural transition while developing confidence and skills,” said Fred Rumford, director of ski school for Beaver Creek. “Both skiers and riders will be able to learn on gentle, beginner terrain that includes subtly-sculpted snow features which help to guide them into the correct technique. The added snow features help to control speed and body position, which helps guests to relax, have fun and focus on a specific task; and each specific feature helps skiers and riders learn specific techniques. Once the feeling of good technique is recognizable, progression happens naturally and much more quickly.” Guests are invited to experience Terrain-Based Learning through the Beaver Creek Children’s and Adult Ski & Snowboard Schools; the features will be accessible via the instruction-dedicated Buckaroo Express Gondola.

The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek recently invested in its $1 million renovation of the lobby and adding a sleek, new bar. The bar features high-end cocktails, a selection of local beer and spirits, and small bites from 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill. The area serves as a gathering place with a communal table and comfortable seating, with live music on select evenings. The new bar will also offers three- liter pours of local beers to add to the festive, Bavarian environment.

Ski Nanny Program Returns to The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch
The Ski Nanny program at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch is available to children between the ages of 5 and 12 who are participating in full day Beaver Creek Group Ski School lessons. The program is designed to assist parents in transporting their children to Ski School on time in Beaver Creek Village, while allowing them to still make first tracks on the mountain. Before departing for Ritz Kids for a day on the slopes, kids can fuel up with breakfast snacks such as fresh fruit, yogurt and granola bars. In the afternoon, Ski Nanny picks up children from Ski School and brings them back to the hotel for an afternoon snack, allowing parents to get in every last run. Program drop offs and pickups take place in the Ritz Kids room located on the first floor of the resort. New Non-Stop Service Secured Between Washington, D.C. and Eagle County Regional Airport
Beginning this December, United Airlines will fly non-stop between its hub at Washington/Dulles (IAD) and Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE).
