Opening Weekend Events and Activities:
This season Beaver Creek Resort kicks off opening weekend with our most special of traditions. On Wednesday, November 26th, we start the day - and unveil our new Centennial Express Lift with 6-passenger chairs and alternating 10-person gondola cabins. With the unveiling we will host our annual winter festivities, complimentary hot cocoa and the opportunity to win tons of prizes!
That afternoon we embark on the tradition of finding the World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie
. Then on the Friday after Thanksgiving, we host our longest running tradition of all…the Beaver Creek Tree Lighting Ceremony
As we enter our 34th year of the tree lighting tradition, we will be taking it up a notch or two with music, performances, fireworks and the lighting of our very special Beaver Creek Colorado blue spruce.
World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition November 26, 2014
Celebrate opening day at Beaver Creek and round out the day before Thanksgiving by munching on warm chocolate chip cookies. The annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition takes place opening day of the 2014-2015 winter season, where the top five recipes will be selected to compete for bragging rights as the official cookie recipe of Beaver Creek.
Five finalists chosen from a number of fall entries bake and serve 1,000 cookies each on November 26th. Hungry skiers and riders vote and the top cookie recipe is chosen and designated as the 2015 Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe of Beaver Creek.
34th Annual Tree Lighting November 28, 2014
