2016 Audi Birds of Prey World Cup Races | December 2 – 4

Beaver Creek Birds of Prey

December 2 - 4

Momentum from the successful 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships will keep rolling into this year’s bigger, better, Audi Birds of Prey World Cup ski races. The weekend now offers multiple concerts, festivities, ski races and other activities via the new EverBank America’s Winter Opening, as well as elevated spectating opportunities through exclusive CLUB and VIP experiences, open to all race fans.

As the only men’s World Cup stop in the United States, the Birds of Prey has evolved into one of the world’s premier ski events. Beaver Creek Mountain is home to the formidable Birds of Prey race course, challenging an international roster of top athletes. The Birds of Prey downhill course is regarded as one of the most difficult downhill courses in the world and features a vertical drop of 757 meters. The Birds of Prey contains an average gradient of 27 percent, increasing to 45 percent in the middle of the course and again in the final third of the course.

The second annual EverBank America's Winter Opening – 'Where It Begins' celebrates the arrival of winter and elevates the experience surrounding the Audi Birds of Prey World Cup race week. In 2016 it is set to include live concerts and entertainment, alpine ski racing on Beaver Creek Mountain, “Birds of Prey Way” festivities in Beaver Creek Village, the annual Black Diamond Ball and much more. For more information on the races and surrounding festivities, please visit www.vvf.org

.

Enjoy the Birds of Prey World Cup in a new way this season with VIP & Club Seating sections.  Each section provides spectator amenities, complimentary food & beverage from top-rated chefs, and best of all - premier viewing areas of this year's world cup event. SPECTATOR ACCESS & VIEWING:
All racing events are free and open to the public. The Birds of Prey racecourse has a mid-mountain finish area and, depending on snow conditions, can be accessed by shuttle bus service, with snowshoes, skis or snowboards (conditions permitting). Concessions and restrooms are available at the Red Tail Finish Stadium.

PARKING & GETTING TO THE RED TAIL FINISH STADIUM:
Spectator parking is available in the lower parking lots (beginning with the Bear Lot) located at the base of Beaver Creek Resort. Regularly scheduled free shuttles will bring spectators to the Covered Bridge stop where special race shuttles will take you to the Red Tail Finish Stadium. Race shuttles run every 5-10 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to the completion of that day's race. Skis and snowboards are not permitted on the race shuttles.

From the shuttle drop location, there is a 5-10 minute hike to the Red Tail Finish Stadium. ADA access to the venue is available on request. Please allow one hour of travel time from the base of Beaver Creek Resort to the Red Tail Stadium in order to not miss any of the action!

PUBLIC TRANSIT FROM VAIL:
We encourage locals and visitors alike to utilize the existing ECO “Vail / Beaver Creek Express” bus system for travel to the World Cup Venue. On race days beginning at 8 a.m. buses will be departing from 4 main Vail bus stops (West Vail Conoco, Cascade Village, Lionshead, and the Vail Transportation Center). Buses will run approximately every 20 minutes during the busier morning and evening transport hours. After departing Vail, the route makes only one stop in Avon prior to finishing in Beaver Creek Village. This is an efficient way to get to the races and costs only $5.

SKI/SNOWBOARD ACCESS (DEPENDENT ON SNOW CONDITIONS):
Guests may ski or snowboard to the finish stadium on intermediate and advanced terrain, dependent on snow conditions. Beginning at the top of Centennial Express Chairlift (Chair #6), follow Red Tail to the Birds of Prey course crossing. Follow the Birds of Prey course crossing to the south end of the Red Tail Stadium and consult maps and signage for seating areas. Please note that this access is dependent on adequate snowfall to enable skiing/snowboarding to the venue. The majority of terrain to the finish area is intermediate to advanced level.

SNOWSHOE ACCESS:
TBD
